The DNP Student Handbook is an important resource for DNP students to utilize throughout their program at Purdue University Global. In addition to the University policies established in the Student Code of Conduct and University Catalog, this handbook establishes the expectations and policies that DNP students are expected to adhere to while enrolled in the program. It is important for all DNP students to review this handbook to become familiar with the policies and expectations for them, and to use this handbook as a resource as questions arise in their program.
Key Components of the handbook are as follows:
Goals of the DNP program, the DNP project, and practice hours
Recommendations for staying informed of program updates
Clinical course requirements and guidance on the clinical placement process
Expectations of the student, practice mentor, and DNP consultant in navigating the program
Guidance on seeking approval for the practice experience site and how to make the most of the experience
As noted in the DNP Student Handbook, all students and faculty are expected to follow all the policies, procedures, and behaviors aligned with professional and academic excellence in all academic settings to support their safety, wellbeing, and success. Academic settings does not just mean within the virtual classroom, but also including, but not limited to, clinical settings, student meetings, virtual simulations, and any and all communications within the educational context. The goals of our DNP program is to prepare nurses to be competent, strategic, and well rounded leaders and change agents in health care, so maintaining professional conduct and developing those skills while in your program are essential.
