The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is the professional standard in nursing education. This program enhances your leadership, decision-making, and evidence-based practice skills across healthcare settings.
Some information differs depending on your clinical course sequence. Select your program version below:
Brings essential nursing experience to academic and professional growth.
Demonstrates attentiveness and responsiveness in communication and coursework.
Monitors university email and course announcements regularly.
Uses only PG email for all communication with faculty and support staff.
Acceptable preceptors include:
BSN-prepared Registered Nurse (RN)
Nurse Practitioner (NP)
Physician Assistant (PA)
Medical Doctor (MD)
Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)
Provide guidance and supervision during clinical experiences.
Assist in selecting meaningful learning opportunities.
Be present during required clinical activities (especially for NU497/NU480CL).
Participate in scheduled check-ins with student and course faculty (typically 3 times per term).
Verify student clinical hours weekly in the clinical system.
Complete the end-of-course evaluation of student performance.
To ensure objectivity and academic integrity, the following are not permitted as preceptors:
Personal friends or relatives, including those by marriage
Current supervisors, managers, or coworkers who evaluate the student at their job
Anyone in a position of bias or conflict in the student’s employment setting
If using your employer as a site, clinical hours must be in a different department, outside work hours, and supervised by someone other than your manager.
Students must log weekly clinical activities in CORE ELMS.
Clinical hour logs must be accurate and reflect supervised on-site work.
Any "rounding up" of clinical hours (i.e., counting 3.5 hours as 4) will be considered academic dishonesty and will result in failure of the course and possible dismissal from the program.
Expect structured communication between student, preceptor, and faculty—including kickoff and end-of-course calls.
