Ms. Vroulos

Effie Vroulos

I am a Special Education Teacher at PS 214.  I have been working for the NYCDOE since 2003 and joined the PS 214 family in 2008.  I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Psychology, and a Masters Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Special Education.  I have taught Math for grades 3-6, Kindergarten, Second Grade, and this will be my third year teaching Third Grade!  Teaching in an Integrated Collaborative Teaching Classroom is rewarding for both teachers and students alike.  I believe meaningful learning occurs when you are having fun and making connections.  Hands on learning in cooperative groups and partnerships are part of my daily classroom routine. Every child has the opportunity to thrive and achieve to their fullest potential.  I encourage my students to take pride in their work and celebrate accomplishments-both big and small.

I continue to teach children well after 2:20 each day, as I am a mom of a 10 year old boy and a 5 year old girl (and an 11 year old Labrador).  As a family, we love traveling around the globe, exploring nature, cooking and skiing together.  In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, walking and reading.

This year, I am very excited to meet my new third grade students!  I am committed to working with them so the transition into third grade is a smooth one.  I look forward to meeting all the families and working together to ensure the success of each child.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
