Hello, I'm Ms. Hoch the visual arts teacher at PS214Q!
Here's a little bit about me: I have been an artist since I was a little girl; it is my passion. Before I became a teacher, I worked as an interior designer and project manager in the corporate field - both NYC and Westchester.
I graduated from New York Institute of Technology in Old Westbury with a BA in Fine Arts/Interior Design, and a minor in Architecture. I then completed my Master of Science degree in Visual Arts Education at Queens College.
In addition to teaching, I am also the Director of Art and Set Design for our annual Disney school plays. The Set Design Team creates all the backdrops, props, and costumes for the shows. I enjoy working with students, teachers, and PTA parents in guiding them how to design, construct, and build. We use recycled materials whenever we can, and strive to create a 'professional design' that you would 'not' expect from an elementary school.
On a personal note, I have one son who makes me proud in all that he has accomplished, and some cats! I call them 'my lions.' I also help with feral rescue whenever I have free time. In addition, I am an avid gardener. In the summer you will find me in Le Jardin (that is French language for 'The Garden') planting blue hydrangeas and cottage style plants. I also enjoy skiing and horseback riding. AND, I love to paint! Watercolors and oil are my preferred medium.
