Is the exploration of the inner workings of an orange. What happens when the inside of the citrus fruit is scraped clean and replaced with a different substance? What is left? What has spilled out? What does this dissection smell like? The project serves as a commentary on the human psyche and the trauma out body endures to survive and sustain life. It explores how events are internalized, and the connections (plain white string) the brain makes to the environment around it (the painted canvas).

Halo: Scented with resin accord and water stone accord to represent the preservation of purity. faith, and grace
Pendant of "The Heart Of Christ": Scented with light floral accord, green accord, and skin accord to represent the nature of the heart, and its humane characteristics as an organ/vessel of the soul.
The Blue Wrap: Scented with a heavy floral accord and my natural body scent to bring the avatar together as a whole, and capture the distinction between Earthly and Heavenly.
**The idea to utilize the Virgin Mary as a scent avatar was not to disrespect the Christian religion, or offend true believers. Rather she was a vessel to explore olfactory preservation, and what that means for a figure of her stature, representation, and abilities. How can I return to a scent that is described during a time I did not exist. **

Remembrance Of Memory
My alter was dedicated to the process of remembering, forgetting, and preservation, and how this is an everyday ritual for me. I wanted to highlight the significance of memories, and how memories can be preserved in multiple ways, for example through familiar scents, sounds, and imagery. I wanted to use my alter as a way of containing memory, and what that implicates through the senses of sight and smell, and how these implications can change over time.
