Sacred Music: Sacred Catharsis
Set to the song Goetia by Lustmord and Inspired by the idea of unofficial anti-clerical personal sacredness. A self-flagellation of the psyche to achieve catharsis. The song Goetia was dark but at the same time seemed to reach deep into the psychological and emotional center of the viewer. This inspired to take the perspective of someone needing some intense personal bloodletting and thus the structure itself was made. Made out of animation wire with cardboard, hot glue and collage, this was made to replicate a relic of someone who is far from a saint and still wishes to achieve atonement and a higher, purer state of mental being. Inside the box at the base is dirt, stone, along with a skin accord mixed with mechanical grease to really get the idea of something far from a church as the site of some Holy Ritual. The idea of this is personal and private sacredness of someone who is potentially far removed from the church.

But What If Little Aliens Came to Earth and Made an Altar in my Backyard? Ritual Project
I tend to usually start my ideas off way too big and then fail to complete them, so I figured while working on this, why don’t I make it small, and thus make my chance of success bigger? This alien altar was designed to be small, portable, and hidden. It is made like a tent, with an underlying metal skeleton and tarps draped over it, to give the appearance and idea that this was put up as a mobile altar by some intrepid group venturing into a new world. The altar itself is small as well, and no bigger than the size of a stone, pushing the idea that this could have been crafted out of any pebble or even tree branch that was laying around. The designs on the wall of the temple were inspired by HR Giger and the movie Alien, composed of outward moving circles and lines seemingly connected to the altar itself.
