COURSE DESCRIPTION

⚠ Important – Time-Sensitive Placement Requirement

This Capstone involves placement at a community college site. All locations at PCC require background checks. After registering, you must email Michelle Culley (mculley@pdx.edu) and check/respond to email regularly until your placement is confirmed. This process is quick but time-sensitive.

Course Overview

This Capstone has two interconnected components:

On-site Tutoring

Tutor adult ESOL learners 2.5–3 hours per week at local community colleges (locations and times vary).

Remote PSU Coursework

Online coursework explores adult second language acquisition, instructional techniques, intercultural communication, and immigration to support your tutoring experience.

Proficient English is required, but you do not need to be a native English speaker.
