The Multimedia Production Online Capstone addresses community issues and needs by developing educational interactive online media. Our current focus is on providing information and digital assistance that aids nonprofits and those engaged in the work of helping those who are shelterless and living in tents, vehicles, or on the streets. We conduct research on best practices, identifying root causes, and working with nonprofits to provide web, video and other digital content that both directly and indirectly helps people obtain satisfactory shelter and livable wages. In the process of developing content we intersect issues that contribute to the problem such as nutrition, jobs, environment, mental health, and social group dynamics - to name a few. You will form into Functional Task Area groups and work within groups and across groups to develop a functioning and useful website and/or video, and contribute to the development and ongoing use of a written blog that is continuously live on the web, and participate in online assignments to further develop communication skills. We evolve the digital tools we use as the technology evolves. No special technical skill is required though it is useful. You will be guided to make key decisions in consensus with your classmates. The class is fully online and asynchronous except for a recommended all class Zoom meet at the beginning and any zoom meets you put together with classmates as we move through the term. The requirements are a good internet connection and a desire to learn, explore and grow!
