We are living through one of the greatest humanitarian crises in history. In May 2022, the UN announced that for the first time in history, 100 million people have become forcibly displaced around the world. Whether refugees, asylum seekers, or immigrants, thousands of newcomers are making new homes here in Portland.
Course Goals:
In this class, we will look at the forcibly displaced people crisis from a global and a local perspective to better understand what is happening.
We will partner with the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization (IRCO), a Portland-based culturally specific organization with nearly 50-years of experience serving immigrant and refugee communities, to help newcomers with a variety of holistic needs.
