School Based Supports

School Funds

School Principals have access to some discretionary non-board funds that can be used to support students in need with:

• school supplies
• optional school fees
• school fees for extra-curricular activities
• field trips
• breakfast and/or lunch
• application fees for College or University (prior to a student applying for OSAP)

Student Emergency Needs Program

• Provides one-time emergency funding for a student
• Depending on the need, we can support individual students with food and clothing, medical supplies, eyeglasses, transportation, and assist with other financial needs that result from family crises such as job layoffs and housing challenges.

Student Backpack Program

Through the Student Backpack Program, we provide backpacks filled with school supplies that each student needs to fully participate in regular classroom work. This ensures they have the learning tools they need to pursue success, regardless of their economic circumstances.

Social Worker & Settlement Worker

School social workers and settlement workers also have access to emergency funding sources and/or can make referrals for families who are in immediate need.
