Program Description

• programs to help women and youth who are, or maybe at risk of, coming into conflict with the law
• provide a number of services and programs developed especially for women and youth to proactively prevent crime, lower repeat offence rates and successfully integrate people back into the community
• offers counselling and group programs specifically lowering the risk of youth exploitation including Empowering Against Exploitation, Girls in the Know, and Bullying Resilience in Girls

Adult Protective Service Worker (APSW) Program

Program Description

This program supports adults with a developmental disability who are living on their own. The goal of the program is to help them live as independently, safely and securely as possible in the community. Adult Protective Service Workers work directly with the person who has a developmental disability to help them find and maintain supports, including:

• medical and dental care
• counselling for emotional support during stressful life changes
• social and housing

Eligibility Requirements

Adults aged 18 years or older who have a developmental disability are eligible for the Adult Protective Service Worker program if:

• they live in Ontario
• they live on their own in a community setting or plan to move to a more independent community setting
• they have limited or no significant social supports
• need, and request, the type of assistance that APSWs provide

This program access is managed through developmental services Ontario

Note: there is no upper age limit for eligibility for the Adult Protective Service Worker program.

Program Description

• If it appears that a person is mentally incapable and at serious risk of harm, the OPGT will conduct an investigation if no alternative solution can be found.
• This is not an immediate, emergency crisis response service. If you are in a crisis or can't wait for an appointment, go to the emergency department of a nearby hospital. The OPGT has no authority to make decisions for the person during an investigation or while the matter is before the courts.

Eligibility Requirements

• Persons who do not have a power of attorney but are not capable of independently making personal or financial decisions and are therefore vulnerable to exploitation or other serious risk of harm

Program Description

• Obtain an Ontario Photo Card
• Authenticate a Document for use Outside of Canada
• Apply for, replace or check the status of: birth certificate, marriage certificate, or death certificate
• Register the birth of a newborn
• Renew driver's licence
