At PBLWorks, we believe that providing a space for connections is key to building a community of PBL practitioners. For today, we will use our Learning Circle groupings to share our journeys to PBL.
Reflect on the ways district leaders can build capacity for PBL.
Engage In a PBL Crosswalk Protocol as directed by your facilitators.
Reflect on additional support you might need to offer to school leaders and teachers to further build coherence across initiatives and policies.
Find a partner from another district and engage In a start, stop, and continue discussion.
What will you start doing to build coherence and remove barriers?
What will you stop doing or do differently?
Given what you know now, what will you continue doing?
Engage In a table talk to discuss data you currently collect (or plan to collect) to measure and monitor PBL implementation?
Review the Leading Indicator resources:
Determine Leading Indicators for your Implementation Plan.
What Leading Indicators do you want to monitor?
What tool will you use to monitor if your actions are working?
When and how will you reflect on your evidence and data?
Complete the Milestones section for your plan. Identify the actions and experiences needed in order to reach your inspiring goal. As you work, keep these questions in mind:
In what ways do your milestones lead to your aspiration?
How will you leverage your Leading Indicators to monitor your progress?
How might your milestones work to advance equity?
As you listen to the story shared, take note of the moves that were made and consider what you may want to emulate In your district.
Review the bright spot characteristics.
With a partner from another district, share what you heard that you may want to try and specific moves you will make.
Review the mini-workshop options and determine which one will be most useful for you/your team.
Several of the sessions include a self-paced Nearpod. You will need to provide your Google or Office 365 email to access.
Option 1 (project work time) and Option 2 (networking time) do not have materials.
Spend 45 minutes engaging in the mini-workshop.
In your journal, note the following based on your mini-workshop experience:
What: What did you learn?
So What: What do you want to Implement?
Now What: What updates do you plan to make to your plan?
Share insights with your team and make adjustments to your plan as needed.
Reflect on the sample planning cycle shared by the facilitator.
Discuss the actions you will take to progress on your PBL journey:
Identify a high priority milestone.
Determine the steps you will need to take to reach this milestone. What strategies might be most effective? What barriers might you need to remove? (Plan)
What indicators will you monitor to determine if your actions are working? (Implement & Collect)
