Individually reflect on the degree to which you have realized the vision for PBL In your district.
With your team. discuss celebrations, barriers, and areas of opportunity.
Review the "Amplify Bright Spots" role of the District Leader and reflect on the idea of bright spots as outlined in this video.
Using the data reflection protocol, review school-level PBL implementation plans to Identify bright spots, barriers, and district-level actions. Capture key ideas using this note catcher.
Be prepared to share what you learned/identified with a partner from another district.
Leading change is about holding the creative tension while moving from the current reality to a shared vision of the future. Getting a good handle on the current reality is the best place to start.
Individually complete the District Conditions Inventory.
With your team. discuss your current reality:
What are some bright spots that you can build upon?
What barriers are Inhibiting progress?
Considering the above, which domain and specific conditions do you want to focus on next year?
As you listen to the story shared, take note of the moves that were made and consider what you may want to emulate In your district.
Review the bright spot characteristics.
With a partner from another district, share what you heard that you may want to try and specific moves you will make.
Review the PBL Equity Levers & look for the PBL Equity Levers as you watch this video.
Engage In a Walk and Talk with someone from another district to discuss the following:
Where did you see the levers in play?
What opportunities do you see to strengthen the equity levers in this project?
What might you keep in mind as you identify the aspiration and rationale for your Implementation Plan?
Using the template provided, identify the aspiration and rationale for your 2022-2023 PBL Implementation Plan.
Review the mini-workshop options and determine which one will be most useful for you/your team.
Several of the sessions include a self-paced Nearpod. You will need to provide your Google or Office 365 email to access.
Option 1 (project work time) and Option 2 (networking time) do not have materials.
Spend 45 minutes engaging in the mini-workshop.
In your journal, note the following based on your mini-workshop experience:
What: What did you learn?
So What: What do you want to Implement?
Now What: What updates do you plan to make to your plan?
Share insights with your team and make adjustments to your plan as needed.
A key component of successful PBL practice is showing your sketch to get kind, specific, and helpful feedback. This protocol is a low-stakes way to quickly get quality thinking from others. Use the feedback to improve your plan.
