Exhibition

We have laid out a series of rooms, ઓરડા, of different stories: some complete within themselves, many left incomplete for the imagination of the onlooker. ઓરડો is used to say ‘rooms’ in Kathiawadi Gujarati. “Ordo” (English alliteration of ઓરડો) also means a musical phrase constructed from one or more statements of a rhythmic mode pattern and ending in a rest. Understanding the collective histories of Bhavnagar and the cultures of Kathiawar has been akin to discovering the rhythmic pattern to organise these stories, and reinstating the relevance of cultural projects like Pattani Archives for the people of the town and immediate communities.

We invite you to discover and engage with a series of such micro-narratives exhibited and spread across the neighbourhood of Anantwadi to mark the public launch and open house of Pattani Archives in Bhavnagar.  

આથીજ અમે સળંગ ઓરડાઓ ની રચના કરી છે, જ્યાં અનેક વાતો છે: અમુક પોતાનામાં સંપૂર્ણ છે, તો અમુક પ્રેક્ષક ની કલ્પના ઉપર અધયત હોઈ શકે. ઓરડો એ સંગીત ની ભાષા માં અનુપ્રાસ પણ છે, જે સંગીત ના તાલ ની ગત હોઈ શકે, જે પૂર્ણતા માં પૂરો થાય છે. ભાવનગર ના લોકો સુધી પટ્ટણી સંગ્રહાલય અને કાઠિયાવાડ  ની વાતો લઇ જવાનો પ્રયત્ન એ સંગીત ના જુદા જુદા તાલ નો મેળ બેસાડવા જેવું અનોખું કાર્ય હતું.
