We are a pathway full of animals, laughter and most of all family. From the first day you enter into your Principles of Agriculture class until the last day you leave your Agriculture Practicum class, we are one unit, one family and we grow lifetime relationships here.

Principles of Agriculture
This is a year long introductory class to for the Veterinary Science pathway. Students will learn about the importance of agriculture to the community, as well as worldwide, and issues that might be effecting it today. In addition to this, students learn about basic animal science and plant science, and different career opportunities available to them.
Small Animal Management and Equine Science
These are both semester long courses that will begin to give students a better look at the world of Small Animal and Horse ownership. These courses focus on the responsibilty that comes with animal ownership as well as how to care for these animals in a daily setting. Students learn breeds, nutrition, maintenance, and animal welfare and husbandry.
Advanced Animal Science and Veterinary Medical Applications
These year long courses are designed to introduce students to the world of veterinary medical procedures and large animal sciences. Students will learn hands on skills necessary to be successful in a real veterinary clinic as well as other opportunities in the animal career world. The courses provide many hands on learning labs that allow students to work with real animals and learn what to expect when they obtain future careers in Veterinary Sciences.
Agriculture Practicum
In this two period, year long advanced course, students will round out their course work and prepare to transition their obtained knowledge into the real world. Students are advised to obtain an internship at a local veterinary clinic to earn hours for their CVA certification. Through this internship students will build on the knowledge they have gained in class as well as work hands on with animals under the supervision of a local veterinarian.

Evie is our resident adult lion head rabbit. She is sweet and loveable! She enjoys interacting with students in the classroom and his favorite holiday is Easter

Bowzer is the guardian of our backyard! He is quite the site to behold. He loves strawberries and watermelon and if you come in his yard without permission, prepare to be charged!

Mustard is our scaly, sweet, Leopard Gecko. He always has a smile on his face and loves to hide in his rock.

Our Former Certified Students
Students in the CTHS Veterinary Science Pathway have a unique opportunity to gain an industry level certification before graduation. Students will study and work their way to obtaining a Level 1 Veterinary Assistance Certification. These students have worked in local veterinary clinics to gain the 300 hours of work experience and necessary skills they need to qualify for CVA testing through the Texas Veterinary Medical Association. They are now eligible to obtain or are working in entry level jobs in veterinary clinics around the state of Texas. Many students have also decided to continue their education within the Animal Science field and have used their certification to boost their educational resume.

Boone Doggie trouble maker misbehaver Helle, otherwise known as Boone-Dog, belongs to Ms. Sylvest and comes nearly everyday to school! He loves to chomp on ice and carrots and play until he can't play anymore.

Hello!
I'm Ms. Louviere, I'm the 9th grade Veterinary Science Pathway teacher. I have been a teacher here at CTHS since August 2021 and everyday is a new adventure. I received my Bachelors from McNeese State University, where I studied Agriculture with an emphasis in Animal Science. While in college, I received practical skills by working on the University farm, as well as, shadowing veterinarians in the area. One of my passions is animals and I can't wait to share that with you!

Hello All!
I'm Ms. Sylvest, the 10th, 11th and 12 grade Veterinary Science Pathway teacher. I have been at CTHS since it opened in 2014 and have been loving every minute of it! I attained my Bachelors and Masters from Tarleton State University where I studied Agricultural Sciences with emphasis in Animal Science. I have also worked as a Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist at Spencer Animal Hospital since 2007, where I have learned all of my relevant experiences. I love all things animal related especially my fur child, Boone-DOG. I cant wait for you to join our CTHS family and share our passions for animals and learning!
