PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN
This pathway will help prepare you for a professional career in healthcare as a Certified Patient Care Tech. Over the course of four years you will become proficient with medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, vital signs, and patient care techniques just to name a few. Students will become certified not only as a PCT, but also in CPR/BLS, EKG and as a Community Emergency Response Team member (C.E.R.T.). Our goal is to prepare students to go straight into the workforce after graduation, or take the skills learned to further their education.
Since most PCTs work in a hospital setting, it will allow certified graduates to work night shifts and still attend classes during the day if they choose to attend college after high school.

Patient Care Techs work alongside doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to assist with a mix of clinical duties and patient daily care. The day-to-day responsibilities vary depending on the department in which they work. Common duties include:
Assist patients with daily needs
Measuring vital signs, such as temperature, weight, and blood pressure
Assisting nurses with patient examinations
Perform EKGs & basic phlebotomy tasks
Perform wound care
Prepare laboratory samples for testing
A PCT can work in a hospital setting, doctor's office, urgent care clinics, or free standing clinics.
