Take part in the Chancellor's Event in partnership with the Maricopa Wellness Council, focused on the Health and Well Being of our internal community and families. Chancellor Gonzales invites you to join him on Saturday, February 25, 2023, for the first annual Maricopa Health and Well Being Family Day. The day will begin in partnership and support of the American Cancer Society’s (ACS), Climb to Conquer Cancer, and end with a Maricopa event at South Mountain Community College to honor those we have lost, survivors, and spread the word about reducing cancer risks, as we help raise funds for the ACS.
Each year, the ACS holds Climb to Conquer Cancer, a fundraising event geared toward helping fight all types of cancer, and those impacted by the disease. To show our support, MCCCD is proud to participate in this year’s climb taking place at South Mountain Park beginning at 7:00 a.m.
This year’s Phoenix climb will offer two opportunities for employees to take part in, a 5.5-mile hike and an 11-mile round-trip option. For event registration and logistics, contact John Davenport, john.davenport@paradisevalley.edu
This course is a resource of important Canvas information and how-tos, and also is a great resource for those already using Canvas.
MCCCD offers an abundant amount of professional development opportunities to enhance your work life. We have gathered here many resources from our district and beyond and put them in one central location for your convenience.
NEW PUMAS
After the official New Employee Orientation with the District and PV HR offices, this is a great place for new employees (New Pumas) to become better acquainted with PVCC's campus, structure, culture, and community.
This course begins with an overview of online teaching and learning, then addresses many important topics for successfully teaching online, such as the Quality Matters rubric, learning objectives and alignment with learning activities, instructing your online course, best practices in online teaching, assessment, and accessibility.
In support of MCCCD's mission and values to provide access to higher education for diverse students and communities along with PVCC's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals, members of search committees at PVCC are required to take this course prior to serving on a search committee.
NEW MEDIA LAB EXPERIENCE
The New Media Lab in E142 is a place where we (CTLEE) will offer free sessions and support to faculty, staff, and students on media-related topics. Media Lab schedule will be
Tuesdays through Thursdays from 12:00 - 2:00 in E 142 from September 6th to December 1st. The lab will be closed the week of Thanksgiving.

ADJUNCT FACULTY
A Note from Susan Bonnell, PVCC Adjunct Faculty Support Coordinator
Dear Adjunct Faculty - We had a terrific day of learning on Friday, January 13, 2023. Thanks to all of you who attended; and those who were unable to attend, we missed you. One thing that stood out to us as a group on learning day about our students was the individual attention that they seem to need from us. I know I am keeping that at the forefront of my mind as I enter the classroom each and every day.
One of the goals we have is to rebuild community and communication within our adjunct community and it is always so fun when we come together and get to know each other. I am always awed by the talent pool and experience that our adjuncts bring to the classroom. It is truly an honor to serve you.
Please let me know if there is anything I can assist you with or a resource I can guide you to. You can reach me at: susan.bonnell@paradisevalley.edu
