Curriculum and Learning Approach

The ultimate goal of our learning approach is to instil in our students a lifelong love of learning. The ability to learn complex things is, after all, what makes us most human! We believe that learners learn best through hands-on, dynamic and fun experiences that grow in complexity over time. We also believe that when we learn something new, we have a responsibility to do something with that learning, whether it be to serve others or be better within ourselves. The learning programme at Panyaden is ever-evolving, following research-driven approaches that support learners in achieving their personal best.

Middle School Curriculum: The curriculum framework used in Middle School (Years 7 to 9) is the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC). The IMYC is a concept- and inquiry-based framework which supports the students’ needs during this time. This framework allows students to interlink their learning, make connections, take risks in safe situations, learn together with their peers, be agents of their own learning and support students in their transitions. The IMYC provides students with a strong foundation and prepares them for any high school programme.

High School Curriculum: PYD offers a full High School programme of studies based on the best curriculum models worldwide, which are designed to prepare students for college or university studies.  The PYD High School programme is based on the North American model whereby students accumulate “credits” toward graduation and a High School diploma. The Year 10 and 11 programme consists of a curriculum based on international curriculum standards that is designed to prepare students for success in years 12 and 13. In Years 12 and 13 PYD offers courses within the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) curriculum.  Students may earn an IB Diploma, IB certificates, and/or complete Panyaden courses. The primary focus of our High School and IB curriculum is to prepare students to be critical thinkers, equipped with the academic skills necessary for rigorous university study. All courses are taught in English, with the exception of world language course offerings.
