Week beginning - Monday 2nd February 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
It has been another busy and creative week in year 4, with the children showing fantastic enthusiasm and teamwork across all areas of learning.
The children have been busy designing and building their very own civilisations. They carefully considered how their societies would be run, including food and water supplies, transport systems and whether they would need roads. Using their knowledge of ancient civilisations alongside ideas from the modern world, pupils created thoughtful and imaginative plans. To finish, they designed detailed maps to showcase the layout and features of their new civilisations — the results were incredibly impressive!
In maths, we have been exploring the perimeter of rectilinear shapes as well as regular and irregular polygons. The children worked extremely hard, applying their understanding of shape properties and using their times tables knowledge to support their calculations. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they tackled increasingly challenging problems.
Inspired by our learning about the Mayans and their use of cocoa, the children have been creating their own chocolate bars and wrappers. Using their DT skills, they melted chocolate and added their parents’ favourite flavours and toppings, a task they approached with great care and creativity! They also designed eye-catching wrappers to present their products, demonstrating fantastic imagination and pride in their work.
Well done to all the children for another week of hard work, creativity and enthusiasm. We are very proud of them!
