Week beginning - Monday 2nd February 2026
Take a peek at all the amazing things we've been learning this week!
This week, the children have taken on the role of Data Detectives, delving into ways to enhance our school's air quality by examining our daily travel habits. First we investigated how all the children in our class travel to school. We then decided to conduct a school wide transport survey to discover how our teachers travel to school and see if we can encourage to explore opportunities for promoting more environmentally friendly travel options. Children explored the school by questioning teachers about their travel methods to school, collecting data for their tally charts. This activity allowed them to apply their mathematical skills in counting and comparing quantities in a practical context.
In maths, we have been exploring the concepts of pairing, distinguishing between odd and even numbers, and have learnt about doubling. In Phonics, our attention has been on the sounds "nk" and "ai". Please continue to support your child's progress by reading together for a few minutes each day.
Lastly, we had a fantastic time celebrating NSPCC Number Day! It was wonderful to see everyone dressed up, and we want to say a huge thank you to our parents for the truly brilliant costumes. They made our day of maths challenges and numerical fun even more memorable!
