Our third group of year 5 pupils in our careers project had an unforgettable visit to the De La Warr Pavilion, where learning came to life in the most inspiring way. Their day was filled with creativity, discovery, and career exploration, leaving them excited, curious, and fully engaged.
The visit began with a dynamic workshop led by a professional artist, sparking imaginative ideas and hands-on creativity. This was followed by a guided tour of the current exhibition, where pupils explored a captivating video/film installation, prompting thoughtful discussions about art and its impact.
A highlight of the day was a behind-the-scenes exploration of the iconic Art Deco building. Pupils met staff members from various departments, including the front desk, box office, and auditorium team. Each shared insights into their roles and responsibilities, helping pupils see the wide range of careers involved in running a cultural venue.
Even the journey itself was educational. Pupils practiced reading bus and train timetables, reinforcing their maths skills while developing independence, resilience, and perseverance.
Experiences like this broaden horizons and spark aspirations. Visiting a gallery connects learning with real-world careers and inspires creativity that lasts a lifetime.
The trip left a lasting impression, showing pupils how art, teamwork, and curiosity can shape future possibilities.
