LIVE PERFORMANCE
It was wonderful to welcome Create Music teachers in to OVPA; they treated us to a stunning live performance, giving the children in KS2 an opportunity to experience live, high-quality music and learn about different instruments and styles of music. We enjoyed music genres from Irish folk music to Oasis which made for an uplifting start to the day.
Create Music is part of Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival and the Hub Lead Organisation for the Sussex Music Hub. Their vision is for a future where children and young peoples’ lives are forever transformed by the power of music.
INDOOR ATHLETICS
Some of our year 3/4 children attended an indoor athletics competition held at Hastings Academy Sports Centre.
They took part in relays, running races, speed bounce, chest push and long jump events.
They all performed brilliantly and each won a medal for their efforts. Well done to all of our super athletes.
CROSS COUNTRY COMPETITION
Our year 5 and 6 children attended an inter-school cross country competition at Sandown primary school this term.
They were amazing and showed resilience in completing the tough course. We came away with three medals which was a fantastic achievement.
Well done to all of our children who took part - they were fabulous.
Paul Lincoln is 67 years old and In his younger years he boxed for Repton ABC and at international level.
As a friend to the parents of Laylaa, in our reception class, Paul was touched by Ore Village Primary Academy's plea to raise money for the school community. Paul set up his own fundraising event, hitting a punch bag non-stop for 3 hours without breaks which is no easy task.
The event took place at Bishop's Stortford Boxing & Rugby Club where the public were invited to come along and support.
Paul used every ounce of fitness, concentration, and determination to successfully complete the challenge, which was more than double his longest record. This was an impressive achievement raising nearly £2000 for the school and the local food bank.
We are so grateful to Paul for his generosity and willingness to support our school and community.
Thank you also to Laylaa for inspiring Paul - children are always at the heart of all we do.
Royal Mail Special Delivery to Santa
The children were very excited when Liam, the post man, arrived at school with his Royal Mail van. He was in charge of a special delivery of letters to Santa. All of the children's handwritten letters were carefully placed in the postal bag and then put in the van. They are now safely on their way to The North Pole where Santa will be waiting to receive them.
What a very special delivery!
