This term has certainly seen our self-confidence and self-esteem grow. Strong friendships are beginning to form and there is always friendly rivalry in abundance as we go through our day! We are learning to show empathy to each other and are beginning to understand ours and our friends' emotions.
This term in PE we have been focusing on our balancing skills (which can be tricky at 3 years old!); they have been learning to travel over, under and through different apparatus and move in different ways. Jumping and landing safely has also been a key skill they have been learning and their progress has been amazing!
Cutting and sticking and manipulating playdough has really helped to hone their fine motor skills and improve their pencil control. This was really apparent when making our salt dough hedgehogs as part of our woodland animal focus.
Our talk for writing this term has been 'Dear Zoo' and the children have really enjoyed this and embraced acting it out. Can you guess which animal they are being? (clue.. It's got the hump!). Talking and communication plays a vital role in Nursery from sitting around the breakfast table, circle times and listening to our friends, adults and stories. Through our termly topic 'Amazing Animals' we have learnt some new vocabulary such as habitat and woodland and were eager to discuss which animals live in the woodland and how we may recognise them! Each child should feel confident to have a voice and this is something we value unreservedly in Turtle Class.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Turtle Class.
