Our OVPA chess teams made the school incredibly proud in the first round of the Primary Cup this term. Competing in teams of four, they played a highly competitive and skilled round-robin tournament throughout November and December. They faced formidable opponents with determination and resilience.
Their individual efforts reflected the hard work and commitment they have shown throughout the year playing regularly at school.
Equally impressive was the team’s fair play. Their respectful attitude toward opponents and gracious conduct throughout the tournament were a joy to witness. Perhaps most inspiring was their love of the challenge itself. When asked what they enjoyed most and learned from the experience, they unanimously responded, "the challenge."
I am so impressed with the team’s development in just four months. It was heartwarming to see the camaraderie between all pupils involved in the tournament.
We have further fixtures in January as part of the East Sussex Games and the next round of The Primary Cup in February.
Thanks for all your support.
