It has been a wonderful term and a fabulous end to 2024 at OVPA. This is a poignant time to reflect on all we have achieved, to date, and look ahead at our goals and aspirations for 2025.
Our Parent Consultations were well attended, giving us the opportunity to share how your child had settled in to the new academic and update you on their progress both academically and socially. We always enjoy the time we have to talk with our parents and carers about the children.
There have been some impressive fundraising events this term, including our Harvest donations for the Salvation Army Food Bank in Ore Village and 'Children in Need' Day where we raised an amazing £550 to help disadvantaged children across the UK. We had our Great Olympian visit from badminton player, Heather Olver, and we enjoyed joining her for our sponsored fitness challenge. This was further supported by a very generous friend of the school, Paul Lincoln, who was inspired by one of our reception pupils and raised £2000 through an independent boxing challenge.
Our final week of term has certainly got us feeling festive. We have enjoyed a glorious retelling of the Christmas story from our youngest pupils who proudly performed 'A Fireside Nativity' so beautifully. Our pupils in Key Stage 2 held a Festive Sing, sharing traditional and modern songs along with some winter-themed readings. The whole school was served a delicious Christmas dinner, cooked by our wonderful kitchen staff. The community came together for our Christmas Fair involving games, stalls, refreshments, face-painting, visits to Santa, music and plenty of laughter. We finished the term with the children being treated to a silent disco and a pantomime showing of 'Snow White & the 8 1/2 dwarfs'.....Oh yes we did!
I'd like to wish all our pupils, parents, carers, staff and Governors a wonderful Christmas break and a very happy New Year.
Mrs Campbell
What a fantastic term and end to 2024! The children have, as ever, continued to be a credit to the school and embrace every opportunity that arises.
Our Year 5 pupils have had the chance to take part in a Careers Aspirations Projects. Small groups at a time have been able to visit different areas in the local area, such as Fisherman's Museum, the Shipwreck Museum in Old Town and the De La Warr in Bexhill. Mr Newell has carefully planned these visits to best support the individual pupils and give them potential insights in to future career paths.
Remembrance Day is an important event across the country as well as at OVPA and this year the children were great in acknowledging this day and the importance of what it represents. It was lovely to see so many children wearing uniforms from the organisation they attend, including Rainbows, Scouts, Guides and many more.
As always, our children are not only fantastic in school but are brilliant in representing OVPA in lots of different events, including The Chess Primary Cup, indoor athletics hosted at The Hastings Academy & a cross-country event at Sandown. All the children made us all proud for demonstrating their resilience and determination to be the best they could be. Well done everyone that took part and we look forward to all the events that our children will take part in next term.
This year we have been sharing Attendance Hampers each term for those children with 100% attendance. The hampers include a wide variety of fruit alongside biscuits, cereal, bagels and milk. Have a look at our Attendance page to see who are our Term 2 winners.
I hope that you all have a very merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. I look forward to seeing all the children in 2025!
Mr Paramor
Dear all
As we approach the end of this term, I would like to take a moment to thank our dedicated staff, wonderful students, and supportive families and carers for making this a truly memorable term. We as Governors have been working hard with Mrs Campbell and her whole team with planned visits focused on all the key areas which make this school so very special. We have observed so much growth, enthusiasm, and community spirit across the school, and this is also best seen in how everyone embraces Equality, Diversity & Inclusion. We should all be very proud of the achievements so far and with the knowledge that it sets a firm foundation for the rest of the school year to come and the years beyond.
The Christmas break is a well-earned opportunity for rest and celebration, and I hope that everyone enjoys some quality time with loved ones. I look forward to what the New Year will bring, as we continue to work together to ensure that every child at our school is supported to reach their full potential.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
