What is a private school?
When people think of private schools, they automatically think of uniforms and tuition. While sometimes this is true, there is more to private schools. The definition of private schools states “a school that is not supported primarily by public funds” (Broughman, 2019). There are multiple types of private schools, some include religion and others do not. Broughman’s study (2019) explains the three types of private schools as Catholic, other religions, and nonsectarian (no religious affiliation).

Benefits of Private Schools
-Class Size: Pierce and Claybourn's (2023) studies suggests that smaller classrooms are richer in conversation and interaction.
-Student success:"Studies in private school consistently outperformed their public school peers in all subject areas" (Pierce and Claybourn, 2023).
-Safety: Ginger Abbot's (2022) study shows that a smaller staff to student ratio makes a school safer and more monitored.
-Personal help: A smaller sized classroom gives the teacher the ability to help the student 1 on 1. this gives the student individualized attention, which Makes learning easier (Abbot, 2022).

Who should go to a private school?
Jude is a 2nd grader who needs a little more educational attention than most kids. A private school would benefit Jude because he can have 1 on 1 interactions with his teacher.
Ella is a 4th grader who get overwhelmed easily. Her parents send her to a private school because the class sizes are smaller. Ella is more comfortable in smaller settings. At a private school, she is able to interact with her classmates and engage in more conversation.
(Fischer, 2020)
Conclusion:
Private schools have many advantages. Some include: a safer environment, personal help from the teacher, and smaller classroom settings. I think it is easier for children to be more comfortable in their classroom when they are able to build relationships with their classmates and teacher. It is so much easier to build those relationships when the class is smaller in number!
