Differences In Schools

A charter school is a different experience compared to a Public School. Public Schools are funded and regulated by the government, a charter school regulates itself when it pertains to its management. Public schools and Charter Schools both have their trade-offs.  

A charter school has a different style of instruction because they often have fewer students to try the new instruction techniques. Public School teaching mostly is a teacher-led class with a rigid structure.  The instruction teachers use does not just affect the inside of the classroom, but the outside as well. There is an article that highlights the differences between charter and public schools, which says that some teachers advocated for longer grade spans to eliminate the transition from primary to secondary school(Wei et al., Opening the "Black Box": Organizational differences between charter schools and traditional public schools. n.d.). This is one of the many ways that charter schools attempt innovation.

Since Public Schools receive semi-consistent funding from the government statewide their schools have more facilities than Charter Schools. A charter school can receive the same funding, but it is not guaranteed. This introduces inconsistencies when it pertains to a teacher's pay and hours. In an article, it states that "...average salary of a traditional public school teacher was $53,400, but charter school teachers earned an average of $44,500. ".While there may be a few more factors that play into the salary of a charter school teacher, the point is that the pay is significantly less(Public vs. charter teacher salaries,2018 ).
