Mission Summary: Like other pad abort tests done before, this one will test an abort involving an emergency during the launch sequence. The mission profile works as follows. The crew service tower will retract prior to launch like all other missions. Then at T-8 seconds the 5 powerful main engines will roar to life, simulating a real launch. At T-0 the abort sequence will trigger, causing the engines on the escape tower to fire and the capsule to jettison from the vehicle. The capsule will then be pulled away from the vehicle and come back down on parachutes a short distance away.
