Learning is about changing the human brain. Educators change students' brains everyday by creating safe school and classroom environments, making learning relevant and engaging, setting high expectations, and planning and implementing appropriate and effective pedagogy for all learners. The more that educators know about the brain and how it learns, the more successful we can be at aligning school and classroom practices with brain-based approaches.
According to the instructional core, one way to improve student learning at scale is to focus on the role of the student in the instructional process. In so doing, it is important to understand how students learn. Each page below provides information, resources, and research related to how the brain learns. Use each of these sections to reflect on your pedagogy and classroom practices or to engage in action research in your PLC.
