Badges and
Building Access

Everyone inside an NKY Health building and/or conducting business on behalf of NKY Health must wear a badge.

Exceptions (No badge required):

• Visitors to the lobby or conference room only.

• Vendors inside a building during business hours.

• Patients, clients, or news media escorted by badged individuals.

• Public officials escorted by a member of senior leadership.

• NKY Health Employees: Custom, chipped badges (provides building access).

• Consultants, Students, Visitors, Vendors, and Volunteers: Reusable, non-chipped badges (for identification only).

• Employees: Issued by HR during orientation, at 5-year milestones, or after name/title changes. HR will print the badge and email helpdesk@nkyhealth.org for activation.

• Others: Issued and collected by front desk personnel.
  
  Note for Front Desk Personnel: At clinics, ask your Clinic Manager to email hr@nkyhealth.org to replenish your supply of non-chipped badges. Otherwise, email hr@nkyhealth.org directly.

• Chipped Employee ID Badge: Email helpdesk@nkyhealth.org.

• Non-Chipped Badge: Contact front desk personnel at your location.

• Unescorted Access: Employees, consultants, students, regular vendors and volunteers (restricted to areas required for their work).

• Escorted Access: All others must be accompanied at all times.

Division Directors determine the required access, and IS configures the permissions. 

Access is used via:

• Smartphone App (Preferred): Available for Apple and Android.

• Chipped ID Badge: Issued automatically to employees. Non-employees must have a specific, approved reason why they cannot use the app to receive a chipped badge.

To request access for an individual, please email helpdesk@nkyhealth.org with:

• First and Last Name

• Email address (omit if they’re getting an NKY Health email address)

• Start date

• End date (if known)

• Location(s) where access is needed

• Chipped badge request (only for non-employees who cannot use the app)

• Via Badge: Swipe your chipped employee ID badge at the swipe stations near the doors.

• Via App: Once IS grants access, you will receive an email from Avigilon Alta ("Unlock doors at Northern KY Health Department") with setup links. Alternatively, download the app (Avigilon Alta Open) from your app store and follow the prompts.
