Hi Families,
Please fill out this linked form for each of your children who attends our campus. The attached form allows families to either opt in or opt out of Senate Bill 9-related lessons. Senate Bill 9 requires school districts to offer curriculum to students about the prevention of child abuse. Northwest ISD has approved the curriculum that will be used for the different grade levels. Linked here is the curriculum for you to preview what these lessons look like.
Please keep in mind that these are the same lessons that our students have received consistently in previous years regarding child abuse prevention. These lessons have simply become included under the umbrella of state legislation. This form will be a yearly opportunity for you to review and opt in or out for your child’s participation. As the expert on your child, we ask that you would fill out the form for each of your children attending our campus as a reflection of your wishes. If you select for your child not to participate in these lessons this year, we would love for you to have a conversation with your child at home about personal safety.
If you have questions feel free to email Megan.Gjonbalaj@nisdtx.org or Asmith03@nisdtx.org
If you have not filled out this form by March 20th we will be giving you a phone call. This form must be filled out for each of your children separately.
Thank you,
Ashley Smith
