Pumpkin Patch Field Trip - Friday, October 21st:
Black Creek Farms
2324 Old Decatur Rd. Decatur, TX 76234
We are excited to be going on a Field Trip!! Kindergarten will be attending a field trip to the Black Creek Farms Pumpkin Patch on Friday, October 21st. We will enjoy a fun filled day learning about Pumpkins as well as different farm animals. The student cost is $9.00.
If you would like to join your child on our field trip, the cost of the parent admission fee is $2 at the pumpkin patch upon arrival. You will also need to complete the 2022-2023 NISD Volunteer Background Check. Due to the size of our grade level and limited space, the pumpkin patch staff have asked that siblings do not attend.
To help the field trip go smoothly, we ask that you either follow the buses from Lance or arrive at the pumpkin patch by 9:45am. The buses will be leaving school around 9:00am and returning around 2:00 p.m.
To pay the $9 fee, you may:
Send $9 in cash- Please send the exact amount. *No change will be given.*
Pay with credit card at the Lance front office (no additional service fee)
Pay online with additional service fee (link coming soon)
Student Requirements:
Pack a sack lunch with all disposable items (including a disposable water bottle) that will be thrown away before leaving the pumpkin patch, with the student's first and last name clearly marked on the lunch sack. We are asking for disposable water bottle donations for this field trip due to the Pumpkin Patch not having refilling stations on site.
Wear weather appropriate clothes and closed toe shoes
Please wear a Lance Thompson shirt if you have one. If not, a blue shirt would be appreciated.
Optional - Bug spray or sunblock must be applied before coming to school.
Post Activity Release Form: If you plan to take your own child home from the pumpkin patch, you will also need to complete and return the Post Activity Release Form by Friday, October 7th. You cannot take your child home from the field trip without this form turned in.
Please send all forms and the $9 together in an envelope/bag with your child’s name and “Field Trip” labeled on the front by Friday, October 7th.
Background Check for District:
We are currently planning our first kindergarten field trip and will be getting that information to you next week. If you think you may want to join your child on the field trip, please fill out the district volunteer form. The district is requiring all parents who attend school activities to have a background check on file. The system has been taking around three weeks to clear the background checks; therefore, we are asking for families to fill it out ahead of time to prepare for the field trip.
Please be aware that because of staffing issues that have caused backlogs in the court systems, background checks for volunteering are taking additional time to process. While background checks are typically expected to take up to three days, the delays are causing them to take up to three weeks.
Northwest ISD partners with a respected service to gather these reports, though our partner can only operate as quickly as the court system. Please keep this in mind when having people signing up to volunteer, and we encourage anyone who plans to volunteer this year to submit a background check immediately instead of waiting to ensure they are in the system in time.

Parent volunteers are needed to help open car doors/greet students in car line and facilitate the crossing at the front entrance of the school (Hawks and 9th St). Volunteers do not need to check into the office before helping. Please reach out if you have any questions! Thanks for helping us keep our students safe.
Rules for car door openers: Parents in car line need to stay in their cars. Kids need to exit the car on the sidewalk side only. Don't forget to smile!
Rules for crosswalk helpers: Please help children and families safely cross the street. We are not directing traffic.
