Important! At Home Support:
First, we want to thank each of you for all of your support at home. Kindergarten is such a fun grade because the students make SO MUCH progress throughout the year! It is hard to believe, but we only have a few weeks left before we begin our end of year testing. The district’s end of year reading level expectation is that students will be at a minimum of level 4, but the goal is a level 6 or 8. An example of a level 6 text can be found here. Reading levels progress in this order: A,1,2,3,4,6,8,10, etc.
We want to do all we can at school and home to ensure your child meets end of year expectations and is prepared as possible for 1st grade. If your child is not yet at a level 4, we want to work especially hard these next few weeks. Thank you for continuing to do the following things for homework…
- read with your child at least 4 nights a week
-practicing snap words (They should know at least 25-30 snap words at this point in the year)
-practicing letter sounds
-practicing sounding out words
Field Trip - Fort Worth Museum of Science & History - April 19th, 2023
We are excited to be going on a field trip! We will be visiting the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History on Wednesday, April 19th. We will enjoy a fun-filled day learning about space, dinosaurs, and history of Texas and the Southwest. We will also get to attend the Planetarium Exhibit. The student cost is $7.50.
ALL ADULTS MUST HAVE A 2022-2023 VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND CHECK ON FILE TO ATTEND
**Due to the size of our grade level, parents will not be able to attend the Planetarium Exhibit. We appreciate your understanding. Parents will be able to explore the museum at their leisure while their child attends the exhibit with their class.**
Student Requirements:
Pack a sack lunch with all disposable items that will be thrown away before leaving the museum, with the student's first and last name clearly marked.
Wear weather appropriate clothes and closed toe shoes
Please wear a Lance Thompson shirt if you have one. If not, a blue shirt would be appreciated.
