Important Info for the Week:
Important! At Home Support:
First, we want to thank each of you for all of your support at home. Kindergarten is such a fun grade because the students make SO MUCH progress throughout the year! It is hard to believe, but we only have a few weeks left before we begin our end of year testing. The district’s end of year reading level expectation is that students will be at a minimum of level 4, but the goal is a level 6 or 8. An example of a level 6 text can be found here. Reading levels progress in this order: A,1,2,3,4,6,8,10, etc.
We want to do all we can at school and home to ensure your child meets end of year expectations and is prepared as possible for 1st grade. If your child is not yet at a level 4, we want to work especially hard these next few weeks. Thank you for continuing to do the following things for homework…
- read with your child at least 4 nights a week
-practicing snap words (They should know at least 25-30 snap words at this point in the year)
-practicing letter sounds
-practicing sounding out words
