(208) Orchestra 7/8

String Orchestra 7/8  provides students with learning and performance opportunities on violin, viola, cello and bass. Musicians will further develop their instrumental technique, reading skills, and ensemble rehearsal skills through this course. In addition to large group ensemble experiences, individual growth and achievement are acquired through small group instruction. Performances will include concerts and a solo and ensemble experience. This course is for students with previous string orchestra experience. Students with limited or no experience must arrange a planning conference with the director to prepare for entry into the full ensemble. Uniform concert attire is required for formal performances. Boys wear solid black dress shirts and black pants. Girls may wear skirts or dress pants, with a dressy top or a dress.

(213) Band 7/8

Band 7/8 will consist of large group rehearsals for students with previous instrumental experience. In addition to large group ensemble experiences, individual growth and achievement are acquired through small group instruction.  Musicians will further develop their instrumental technique, reading skills, and ensemble rehearsal skills through this course.  Performances will include concerts, marching, and a solo and ensemble experience.  Students with limited or no experience must arrange a planning conference with the director to prepare for entry into the full ensemble.  Percussion students new to Neenah Middle School will need to audition.  Uniform concert attire is required for formal performances.  NMS Band provides a windbreaker for the top and you must provide black slacks, black socks, and black shoes.

(216) Choir 7/8

Choir 7/8 is an elective course for students who enjoy singing! Choir members will learn basic singing skills and develop cooperative group skills while they learn to sing music that represents many different styles and cultures. Students in this class will meet for choir rehearsals every other day and will further their individual growth through small group instruction. The choirs will share their musical knowledge with an audience by actively performing throughout the year, which will include visits to elementary schools by the 8th grade Choir students. Uniform concert attire is required for formal performances. Students will purchase a polo shirt through the choral program and will provide their own black slacks, black socks and black shoes.
