Connecting Through Careers 

Open to:  Grades 7 & 8 

Length:  1 semester/every other day

This course is designed to offer students an opportunity to gain awareness and mentor special education students while investigating the six career clusters and their pathways. Students will work with peers to create resumes, practice interview skills, and explore post-secondary education options. An important component of this class is learning about different disabilities, gaining an understanding of what life is like for people with disabilities, and advocating for people with disabilities. Students will collaborate with their classmates with differing abilities to conduct one teaching unit during the semester. Through the incorporation of hands-on activities, all students will prepare for a balanced and fulfilling life based on developing connections through career, community, and family life.
