Introduction to Food Science 

Open to:  Grades 7 & 8

Length:  1 semester/every other day

Discovering Food Science will educate students in the areas of preparing, production, utilizing and evaluation food substances. In this course students will use scientific methods to conduct laboratory experiments with food in the foods lab. There will be the emphasis of the chemical and biological composition of food as it changes throughout farm to table continuum. Students will have the opportunity to evaluate the physiological effects of food as well and form reasoned conclusions about nutrition-related claims in our society.
