What is Clean Design:
No unnecessary 'bits on or off artboard. Periodically marquee select areas where there might be stray anchor points, tiny unused shapes, or other unwanted digital information.
Closed simple (vector) paths, especially for cutting processes. Simplified shapes, rather than layered , when possible (using pathfinder to make simple paths)
Managing Pos/Neg space to minimize excessive weeding or drop outs in laser cutting (background areas that are removed)
Correctly preparing your file for printing: creating an artboard the appropriate size for the media, file organized for the best 'yield' of printed material (conservation), 1.5" on either side for registration marks as necessary.
Managing color for color separation (if necessary for screen print)
When presenting to other designers and clients: Connect design to clients requests. Be specific. Use design language/vocabulary. Listen to feedback.
Create an Adobe ID and open spark.adobe.com
Represent the characteristics of the demographic for the product (picture of people locations they might frequent, products they purchase. Try to be specific about who will buy this product.
Color, Typefaces, Textures and anything you feel justifies or supports the 'style' you are representing
Black and white, color images of your prototype variations. Show the piece that is the closest to what the client asked for, another variation, and something they may not have thought of.
Board should be clean, images square (90 degree angles) and generally aligned. Be purposeful about breaking this rule, use it for Emphasis (one or two items, only).
Record and use client feedback. Return to Define Problem/Collect Information (top) and make notes for requested changes.
Make changes as requested
Communicate with client when changes are complete. Send pdf (or jpg) of revised version for validation.
