Open photo in Photoshop
Click on a Selection Tool and then on Select and Mask at top of window
In Properties, change View Mode to Overlay (red background), toggle between View modes to see the edge of your selection better
At top of window, use Select Subject - it may take a few seconds
Use Quick Selection tool, Refine Edge tool, Object Selection tool, and Polygonal Lasso tool with Add to selection and Subtract from selection to refine your selection [right and left bracket keys will make the tool larger or smaller]
Use the option sliders in Properties for a better edge.
When your selection is clean, say Okay at the bottom of Properties
On the main page, your image will be masked. If it isn't, click on Layer Mask at bottom of Layers panel

One full figure image developed either digitally drawn or developed in Photoshop

Research infographics and save at least two with a style that you like

On one page, makes several options for icons in vector (10 is suggested)
establish a 'style' that is consistent for all of your icons
Optional: use Procreate with Ipad and Ipencil to draw your symbols/icons. Focus on creating a cohesive group of images. These will be exported and brought into Illustrator as completed images.

Bring your symbols into a new page in Illustrator, 8.5" x 14". Name your document and turn on the grid and snapping.
Explore grid concepts by placing rectangles in the space (as shown below). The rectangles are a way to 'audition' your layout ideas. Once you start placing your objects, you can eliminate the rectangles.
