GOALS:
Create a file management system for project organization.
Research a concept, and create a postcard design in that style.
Expand on use of Photoshop and Illustrator.
Develop awareness of copyright protected images.
Use this link http://largeletterpostcardsite.com/14201.html as a starting point to research images for LL Postcards of the 1930's - 50's. Search for historic cards rather than recent interpretations.
Create a LL Postcard Folder in your Documents, save 10 postcard images in a sub-folder called 'INSPIRATION'. Be prepared to identify what you like about these images (use appropriate language, Elements and Principles, in your descriptions
Identify the location of your postcard. It can be anywhere in the world or even outer space!
In your LL Postcard folder, make another sub-folder and call it ‘Source Images.’
In your Source Images folder, develop a collection of 20+ non-copyright protected images that you might want to use. Create a Word file or Google Doc file to contain a list of attributions and links to free photos. Save in your Source image folder.
Find your images from stock photo sites. You will need to be able to identify the source so either put the labels in a folder or rename each image. Here are some stock photo site links: Creative Commons Search, WIKIMEDIA, FREE IMAGES, FLICKR (you will need to make an account), and MORGUE FILE.
Sketch 3 of your ideas full scale or larger. Make notes indicating what type of images will go where in your design but you don't have to draw every detail.
Sketches should show:
Placement and shape of large letters for the destination
Idea of images in lettersBackground image idea
Secondary words such as "Greetings from"
Your name in tiny font - look at cards to see how the printer places their name on the front of a card.
