Reflections

I choose my Instructional Activity to discuss what I have learned about the effective us of current or emerging technology into the classroom. My instructional activity focused on a social studies standard that dealt with recycling and why it's important for our environment. Students were able to learn some background knowledge on topic and then break into groups to answer a question. In their groups, they had to use a technology device to research about recycling and find answers to their questions. They then had to create an online poster to share their information with the class.

In this assignment, technology plays a huge factor in allowing students to facilitate their own learning and find answers on their own. Technology is a key factor in where our future is going because it does allow students to learn beyond the lecture. It's important to push students to be creative and critical thinkers on their own. Technology allows this to happens because students can explore answers to questions beyond what they were expected.

I choose the assignment about researching learning theories and understanding the different kinds of learning theories there are. I reason I choose this assignment to discuss is because I found it important to discuss the learning theory that I found to be the most important and impactful to my future teaching. Constructivism is the most important and influential learning theory because it allows for students to go beyond what they teacher teaches and makes the teacher become a facilitator instead of a lecturer.

Constructionism allowed myself to update my organizational methods to allow for students to be more independent. I was able to create an easier way for students to look up information and explore new technology apps. It also allowed me to change my leadership style to allow my students to become more of the leaders in the classroom. They are able to take control of the conversation more and steer their learning towards what they find to be important. I was also able to update my project management because I am allowing my students to be more in control of their learning and be more in charge of their groups. It also helps them become more engaged in the project as well continuing to actively learn.

The assignment that made me the most proud or most excited was the response to a scenario assignment. The reason this one is my favorite is because it got me excited for the future. The response was about what I could possibly be doing one day in the future, which would be to go teach teachers how to integrate technology into their classroom.

This assignment pushed me to improve and strengthen my ability to teach teachers how to incorporate technology into their classrooms. By doing this, teachers will have the ability to bring technology-enhance learning experiences into their classrooms. In this assignment, I was able to effectively show I would model technology integration and I was able to facilitate a class for teachers to learn about technology integration.
