Communication Challenge: Chance to win!
On behalf of the Blended Learning Department, we want to welcome you to the 25-26 school year. Whether you are new to Guilford County Schools or are returning for another year, we hope that you will join us in "starting your engines" as we rev up for a new teaching year. Each monthly blended learning newsletter or "pit stop" as we will call them, will focus on ways to incorporate blended learning practices into your instruction.
We wish you an amazing school year filled with adventure, growth, and many wins in the classroom. Please reach out if we can support you along the way.
-The Blended Learning Team
The Blended Learning Department has a website with tutorial videos and how-to instructions on all GCS district provided resources. To access this website, use this link.
When blended learning is taking place, you will notice a shift from the teacher being the imparter of knowledge to a more student-centered classroom, where students have some ownership over what and how they learn. When this happens, student engagement and joyful learning increases. The digital tools help to make this happen.
Blended Learning is really just good instruction where we intentionally and purposefully select technology that will enhance the lesson or the standards being taught. Blended Learning is not all about the tech. It's how the technology can lift and support the solid, grade-level instruction already taking place. It should make learning easier for the student and life easier for the teacher.
As you put this school year into high gear, the Department of Blended Learning has many resources to assist you as you incorporate blended learning practices. Please view the resources, below.
Race car drivers stay in constant communication with the spotter and the pit crew through a radio system. The spotter has to effectively communicate the cars position on the track, the position of other cars, potential hazards, and track conditions. Without this information the race car driver would be at a severe disadvantage. Communication is a critical factor to consider as you begin your year. As a teacher/leader it is important to build relationships with students and parents. One way to do this is to set clear expectations and procedures so that all can be successful. Clear communication and a strong rapport with stakeholders will help students achieve the high expectations and goals that are set for this year's journey.
Here are a few things to consider as you look at building communication this year. Effective communication starts on DAY 1.

Information regarding the Blended Learning Network will be sent to principals in the next few weeks. We are looking for 2 representatives from each school to serve as a blended learning liaison for their school. If interested, please let your principal know.
