Blended Learning Models
Blended learning models allow you the flexibility to accomplish the items listed in the four focus areas of the Blended Learning Look-For document. Implementing personalized practices can be a challenge and these models are the key to overcoming those roadblocks. These models allow for multiple tasks, and even multiple standards, to be worked on at the same time, based on student needs. Visit the "Blended Learning Focus" section below to learn more about these blended learning models and how to implement the one that is right for you.
In Catlin Tucker's Blog " The Why, How, and What of Blended Learning", she states, “Blended learning” is an umbrella term. Within the umbrella are many different models that give students different degrees of control over time, place, pace, and path. On one end of the spectrum are the rotation models, like the station rotation and flipped classroom models, where the teachers are the drivers of instruction. On the other end of the spectrum are models, like the a la cart and enriched virtual models, that rely heavily on online learning as the driver of instruction and learning happens primarily online.
Here are a few things to consider as you look at when planning lessons in your classroom to ensure students take ownership for their own learning.
After July 2022, teachers will no longer be able to create quizzes in Classic Quizzes. Teachers will have to create quizzes after this date in New Quizzes.
However, students will be able to take a quiz that was created in Classic Quizzes before the above date until June 2023.
Our SPRING PD is Under Construction.
Be on the lookout for the ROLLOUT SOON!
For questions, please contact Shannon Franklin.
Consider...
Recording a lesson using the SWIVL and flip your classroom, by having students watch the video at home, first.
Planning and recording small group collaboration, as part of a station rotation, using your SWIVL device. Recordings can then be watched as a way to assess understanding and participation.
Organizing your classroom to match the model (see slide 5).

Congratulations to Samantha Lambillotte, from General Greene Elementary, for being selected as the Canvas Challenge winner for the month of January. Ms. Lambillotte won a $20 gift card to Taco Mama, for submitting a screenshot of feedback given to a student, directly in Canvas. See below for our February Challenge. The next winner could be you! A special thanks to Taco Mama on Battleground Ave. for their generous donation.
This month, instead of a Canvas Challenge, we will be hosting a SWIVL Challenge. A big "thank you" to SWIVL for sponsoring prizes for multiple winners this month.
Please submit a link of a video you created using your SWIVL at THIS LINK (Instructions in Monthly Checklist). Once you submit your link, you will automatically be entered into a drawing for a prize.
For help with your SWIVL please access the Distance Learning Resource course highlighted at the top of the newsletter.
