NEW Canvas Challenge: Chance to win!
Blended learning is an approach to education that combines online educational materials and opportunities for interaction online with traditional place-based classroom methods. It requires the physical presence of both teacher and student, with some elements of student control over time, place, path, or place. Remember this is not reinventing the wheel. YOU ARE ALREADY DOING MANY OF THESE COMPONENTS!
NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION
Whether you have been dabbling in some blended learning practices or you took a break from using devices, now is the perfect time to make a resolution that blended learning will be a focus in your classroom instruction. Our Blended Learning "Look-For" document can help you get started. One of the first things you might notice about this document is that you are already doing some of these best practices in your classroom. So which areas might you need to develop the most? Take this self-evaluation tool to help identify which focus areas are your strength and which areas have room for growth.
ReNEWed GOALS
Find the focus area/s that had the lowest average on the evaluation you just took. Choose 1-2 practices (bullets) from that focus area and create a blended learning goal for the second half of the school year. You can use this goal planning template to help. Need to learn more about your focus area? Don't worry! We've got you covered. Please access our blended learning resource document linked below.
NEW Canvas Updates
End of Semester Canvas reminders:
Teachers will have read-only access to their courses. Teachers will not be able to adjust content and grades, but for as long as they are enrolled in the course, they will still be able to export the course content when needed.
Remember to use the “share content” button within current Canvas course to transfer content into courses for next semester (if desired).
All concluded Courses that have not been favorited will be removed from the Dashboard, but they can be accessed in Past Enrollments. Note: You can “star” (prior to end of semester) courses for them to remain on the dashboard

Use SWIVL to flip a classroom lesson. Record your lesson so students can watch it the night before and come in the next day ready to extend their learning.
Take your class on a virtual field trip using Google Earth (tutorial). Start by using some already created virtual field trips.
Try this new SWIVL Strategy with your students.
