Canvas Challenge: Chance to win!
Blended Learning is when students learn in an online and physical setting. You have built a toolkit of videos and modules to help students learn. Remember this is not reinventing the wheel. YOU ARE ALREADY DOING MANY OF THESE COMPONENTS!
Differentiation
Differentiation is the focus area for this month's newsletter. The image, below, is one part of the Blended Learning "Look-For" document. While students must learn the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, the path in which they take to master these standards does not have to look the same. Differentiation allows students to learn in a variety of ways and can even provide students with choice over how they can show what they've learned. This month's newsletter will focus on how we can best meet the needs of individual learners, while maintaining a rigorous curriculum.
Differentiation with blended learning means providing learners with multiple means of engagement, representation and expression.
Engagement allows students to make decisions along their learning journey. Careful planning and implementation of learning experiences should align with multiple means of engagement.
Representation allows multiple opportunities to learn information, empowering learners to personalize how they build knowledge and hone skills.
Expression allows for various avenues of student choice. Learners benefit from numerous methods to express their understanding as they develop into writers and speakers in developmentally appropriate ways that embrace emerging technologies. When multiple options are provided learners can practice functional skills as they analyze the task and choose the best option to demonstrate comprehension. Student choice should allow for the selection of a strategy that is most comfortable for them.
Here are a few things to consider as you look at differentiating lessons in your classroom.
After July 2022, teachers will no longer be able to create quizzes in Classic Quizzes. Teachers will have to create quizzes after this date in New Quizzes.
However, students will be able to take a quiz that was created in Classic Quizzes before the above date until June 2023.
Our Fall Self-Paced sessions will run from October 18th - January 7th. Click on the links below to register.
