Before applying to become a foreign English teacher in Taiwan, I carefully considered the challenges I might face. One significant challenge that weighed heavily on my mind was being away from my family. However, upon deeper reflection, I realized that this ambitious plan was not solely for my benefit but also for the well-being of my family.
As one of the financial supporters in my family, I feel a strong responsibility to provide them with a more comfortable life. While I was able to offer a good standard of living as a public school teacher in the Philippines, I knew that teaching abroad would enable me to achieve even more for them. This move is not just about the monetary benefits; it is also about my personal and professional growth. I recognized that living and working in a new country would offer invaluable learning experiences and opportunities for development.
I am incredibly blessed to have the unwavering support of my family on this journey. Their encouragement has been crucial in helping me realize my full potential. Being away from them has taught me to be independent, grateful, and brave in the face of challenges. While I miss them dearly, I know that this sacrifice is what’s best for us at this moment.
Reflecting on this decision, I am confident that everything will make sense one day. The sacrifices made now will pave the way for a brighter future for my family and me. Embracing this journey in Taiwan has been a profound step towards achieving our dreams and aspirations, and I am grateful for every moment of this transformative experience.
