S6 pupils in the Advanced Higher English and History classes spent some time recently in our school library learning how to use Primo, the catalogue of The Sir Duncan Rice Library at the University of Aberdeen. They were able to search and select possible resources that might help them with their dissertations.
This week, on Tuesday, the pupils travelled to the university library with Mrs Forster and Mrs Toonen, to use its resources, experience an academic library and see student-life for the day. The pre-planning, the discussions, the catalogue searching, the selecting and the subject knowledge all meant that the group returned to Elgin with great resources and was an example of great team work.
Thanks to the staff at Sir Duncan Rice Library for a productive and valuable day.
An exciting opportunity to visit the University of Aberdeen Library to use its resources for your dissertation research.
This trip is a valuable learning experience on its own and if you are planning a Higher Education course, then this is the opportunity to experience a university library.
The Library offers excellent resources to support Advanced Higher studies and you can use the ‘walk in service’, which provides access to a set of databases and full text journal articles.
If any pupil would like more information about the university library catalogue Primo, or about access to journals, please speak to Mrs Toonen .
