You will support primary pupils in our local communty and help to develop their motivation and confidence and love of reading.
You can make new friendships and enjoy being a part of a team while developing your own volunteering and leadership skills.
We began this session's project with a visit to St Sylvester's Primary School and the team will be reading with the P6/7 class for a few weeks.
Our targeted primary reading project for the 2024-25 session had a wonderful team of senior pupils and all relished this project with our primary schools.
Our final visit to West End Primary School and the final visit, too, for this session. It was great fun, with lots of sharing of stories.
The Primary Reading Group of senior pupils ended their project with P3 pupils in West End Primary School.
They will begin SQA exams and study leave after the holidays, with the S6 pupils about to leave school too.
The project will return in the new session with the new senior cohorts.
Our primary reading project group was with West End P2s: in a beautiful classroom and all enjoyed the picture books. books. There was a lot of fun and sharing stories with the P2s.

Our primary reading project resumed on 8 January and our first school of the year is St Sylvester's.
Our seniors are reading with the P1/2 and the P5/6 classes. We brought a brand new collection of books for the P5/6 class and they were a hit!

The primary reading project team were with their P2 pals in Bishopmill Primary School for their final session on 13 November. The P2s designed, drew and wrote Thank You cards for our S5s and S6s. Wonderful!

The S5s and S6s have enjoyed a great start to term with this Thursday reading project.
Our primary reading team enjoyed meeting P7 pupils in East End Primary School and sharing stories in the sunshine.
Some of the S5/S6 group who have been reading each Wednesday with lower primary classes in West End Primary.
The primary reading project will resume in August.
Our reading project with primary schools is all about sharing great books and the love of reading.
This session’s reading partnership projects, which offer Wider Achievement opportunities for senior pupils, began on 5 June.
Ten of our senior cohort began sharing picture and story books with West Primary School pupils in classes P1, P2 and P4 and they all enjoyed selecting books and getting to know each other.
The primary pupils also enjoyed being read aloud to and having the opportunity to spend time with the S5 and S6 pupils.
The group are: Sophie Anderson, Ada Carmichael, Amirah Cherif, Amelia Conway, Jagoda Dados, Kenzie Johnston, Fraser Lochhead, Bo Stanley and Natalie Taggart.
We look forward to developing and sustaining these Reading School projects.
