Lots of treats to enjoy!
So important to have these events and conversations in school.
Thank you so much coming into school and the way you delivered these sessions to my child.
It was great to hear Alan Bissett’s talk about his book “Lads: A Guide to Respect and Consent”.
A very important talk, particularly during the #16DaysOfActivism against gender-based violence.
Thanks to @LibraryatEA for organising!
I'm going home to talk to my son about today's event.
Thanks to our Home Economics department for this film.
“Encourage your teen to read it; leave it lying around. If you don’t have teens yourself, buy more copies and gift them to friends who do. Let’s keep believing in our young people and their potential to be excellent.” – For the Love of Books Blog.
Support your child to be their best selves.
Alan Bissett, award-winning writer, playwright, performer and speaker, discussed and shared issues in his new book: Lads: A Guide to Respect and Consent.
This book is current, relevant and extremely timely and he is in much demand to visit schools.
The publisher says: “For too long, the conversation has focused on advice to women and girls about what not to do. Lads invites boys to join the conversations by stepping up, speaking out and creating positive change. Teenage boys are at an age where they find themselves subject to pressure to impress ‘the lads’. This book will aim to guide them through this territory. Covering everything from flirting with disaster and not being afraid of the friend zone, to porn, locker-room talk, consent and calling out inappropriate behaviour. Lads: A Guide to Respect and Consent will give boys helpful advice on how to be the guy that makes girls feel safe, heard and respected.”
"Great stuff! We are looking forward to having it up on display. Thanks to everyone involved": Moray Libraries staff.
They shared the work of all in school to achieve Silver accreditation and the plans ahead for the Gold award.
The Parent Council was very supportive and we are looking forward to future collaborations.
When the birth of a child is registered in Moray, the parent is given the child’s library card. This scheme is called Every Child a Library Member and ensures that no one is missed out. All you need to do is bring the card along to your local library to be activated and then your child can access everything in the public libraries.
