Book Week Scotland – now in its fourteenth year – is an annual celebration of books and reading that takes place across the country in November.
During the week, 17 - 21 November, we joined in with this annual celebration of books and reading.

Well Done to Champion Danny
The judges said: Danny's songs are all good and also the cover art of the album is beautifully done with attention to detail. He put together a good playlist for his friend to listen to and read to.
Congratulations to Erin for creating a fantastic reading playlist for a friend.
The judges said: Erin has created beautiful Christmassy art work and Christmassy songs to get us into the seasonal spirit, as well as a lovely message for her friend about why she will like the playlist.
Our final event of Book Week Scotland was a chilled, crafty one, filled with stories, snacks and some fun activities.
Staff and pupils came together to share stories, to chat and to make friendship bracelets.
The Reading Leaders had raised funds for the craft materials and for snacks, which they served to everyone in the library.
This was a perfect way to end our Book Week Scotland 2025, which has been one of creativity, collaboration, connections, learning and, of course, lots of reading for pleasure and books.
Congratulations to the winner of the Book Week Scotland Inter-House and Staff Book Quiz 2025: Gordon House. The Gordon Goats team was led by Andrew Paterson and he and team mates Joshua Toonen and Robert Walls are this year's champions.
They tied with the staff team, captained by Mr Moran. Congratulations to the staff team too. Marks were verified by an external marker!
Randolph House, captained by Maja Zarebska was the runner-up. Huge thanks to S6 leaders Olivia Grant and Josh Pole for hosting the quiz and to Novelties Book Club for scoring it all.

This annual and popular event was again very competitive and all teams did well.

Runner-Up
Winners who tied with Gordon Goats
George and Luca talked about diversity at Elgin Academy and shared their own experiences of being bilingual. George shared Russian storybooks and read from these beautifully to an engaged audience.
The event included parental and staff contributions, followed by refreshments and snacks from the Home Economics staff and pupils. Thank you to them for all their hard work.
It is looking great and all ready for the book celebrations.
All are involved with and are supporting Book Week Scotland events... and will be planning a big booky event next term too.

Pupils in the Code Breaking Elective used a selection of library books for a Book Cipher.

This annual and popular event was again very competitive and all teams did well. Innes and Seafield Houses were in joint second place and the staff team, called For Whom the Bell Tolls, also fought a good battle. Thanks to Novelties Book Club pupils for scoring the quiz. Huge thanks to Head Student, Alana Baird and to Depute Head Students Finlay Munro and Zara Munro for hosting it all brilliantly.

The Taste It at EA: multi-cultural food with book taster was on Tuesday evening this week and it was a fabulous family event during our Book Week Scotland celebrations. Anna Malecka, Katie Tyczka and Alana Baird in S6 delivered a presentation on diversity in Elgin Academy to a rapt audience.
This family event was all about diversity, books and food and it was wonderful to welcome families to our library. Thanks to everyone who came along to this event.
